In Ezra 9:9, the slaves talk about how God would not desert them because of their captivity. He has granted them new life to help them rebuild and repair their house of God and he has given them a wall to protect them in Judah and Jerusalem.
In Numbers 14, Moses and Aaron talk to the Israelite assembly to plan to plunder the city with fruit and with flowing milk and honey. The assembly doesn't think they should go with the plan because they think that God has only let them go to the land only to be killed or for their children and wives to be taken captured and they think it would be better if they went to choose a leader and go back to Egypt. Joshua and all of those who explored the land tore their clothes off in front of the assembly said that the land is exceedingly good. They siad that if the Lord is pleased with them, he will lead them to the land with flowing milk and honey. Only if they don't rebel with the Lord and to not be afraid of the people of the land because they will swallow. Their protection was gone, but the Lord was with the Israelites and to not be afraid of the people of the land.
